In “Walking on the Wall”, there shows seven dancers literally walking on the wall. The film is showing people walking on the wall. Just to be safe, I can only tell that they are wearing black because the film is in gray scale. Their black clothing contrasts with the white wall so that we can see that they are really walking on the wall. Some of them have to cross over each other’s wires that they can continue to walk on the wall. The silence of the film makes the viewers focus on their movements. The light that hits on the dancers creates a shadow that cast on the wall and the ground. There are tracks that restrict their motion. They can only walk in a straight line. They cannot walk side ways or you call it up and down.
In “Men Walking down the Side of a Building,” The rope is about 10 stories high. The film is also showing that he is also walking on the wall. The gaze of the audience is hitting on his body: the front of his face, arms, abs, his legs and feet. The gaze “in front” of him gives him power. This is like pushing him up against the gravity.
Such a simple-looking art takes more work than it seems. The roughly edited films and are done in the 70s. The images are so pixilated. What have they don eon the 70s? Why the 70s? I wasn’t even born yet. 1970… the “70s” the late 60s. It was such a trivially artistic time. What makes this mans walk down a building art? Art is a lot like politics. It is very deceiving in many ways. Very trivial! Sometimes with misplaces intentions. Sometimes they have no intentions at all. Sometimes is for self-satisfaction. A lot of times are for self-satisfaction. Most of the time is for self-satisfaction.
Art is for aesthetic. Art is for politics. Art is for aesthetic of politics. Art is for politics of aesthetic. The purpose of making the art is not just for the sake of making people walk on the wall and document them. They are like mindless zombie. There is more meaning that its beauty. The artists mock people who try to represent everyday life in a different way. They mock about how people act their ways of doing things. They are also just representation and duplications of motions. They want to represent the people in the conventional bourgeois society. The artists want to change the mundane walking to into a more interesting one.
