6.25.09 To me a drawing should

To me what a drawing should do is make a statement—however small, however ridiculous, or normal, or not. The drawing should reflect the opinion of the artist who created it. An artist should only focus on his or her work and what he or she is trying to convey, and not worry so much about how people will react.

This particular drawing was created on rag paper—a paper material imbedded with bits of fabric, with assortment of thick absorbent paints, and a thick brush to enable a bit of ease in this creation. It is divided in a three by five manner, and within each section created are phrases or groups of words. Each of those words describes a memory, an interest, a piece of the past, a physical characteristic, a personal present belief, etc.

I try to never have regrets with any art piece. If I do not feel is will done then it will simply be unfinished. If I do not like the color, then even though I don’t like it, maybe it was just meant to be.

What do you think this piece means???? -- Good writing, Marcus
